BJJ Tees Athletes Poised to Wreck Shop at the LA Grand Slam

The UAEJJF Grand Slam comes to LA this weekend, and BJJ Tees sponsored athletes Nathiely de Jesus and Ana Carolina Vieira look to come out on top of some stacked divisions. One of five Grand Slams scheduled for the 2017-2018 season, this tournament attracts athletes of the highest caliber with some hefty cash prizes. The women’s black/brown combined divisions will pay $1,500 to first place, $1,000 to second, and $500 to third. ‘

Nathiely de Jesus, competing in the 90 kg division, will be looking to continue her winning streak from last season. She won pretty much everything there was to win, including several Grand Slams, and the Abu Dhabi Pro. She capped off the season winning the title of Black Belt World Champion at the IBJJF Worlds. She most recently won the cash prize absolute at the IBJJF San Diego Pro last weekend, and looks to claim yet another purse in LA. She will face opponents such as Claudia Do Val and Alejandra Gonzalez.

Ana Carolina Vieira is another competitor coming off of a gold medal at her first IBJJF Worlds as a black belt. She also won several Grand Slams and the World Pro last year, and is a favorite in the 70 kg division at the LA Grand Slam. Vieira has taken some time off from competing to rest injuries since the 2017 Worlds, but she is no stranger to bouncing back from injuries, coming back from an eight month shoulder surgery recovery to win the 2016 Worlds at brown belt. Her aggressive passing and submission seeking game will make her a force to be reckoned with for opponents like Thamara Silva and Jessica Dos Santos.

The black and brown belt divisions will compete on Saturday September 23 and will be streamed live on FloGrappling.com.
